Opening up a 1990s galley kitchen
A closed-off 1990s galley turned into an open kitchen. We moved a wall, ran new electrical and plumbing, and the family lived at home the whole time.

The project
The Reyes family loved their Winter Park ranch but not its kitchen: a narrow galley closed off from the living room, with honey oak cabinets, laminate counters and one fluorescent light.
We removed the wall between the kitchen and living room, set a flush beam so the ceiling stays clean, and rebuilt the kitchen around a long island. New white oak cabinets, quartz counters, recessed lighting and flooring that runs through the whole space.
The family lived at home the whole time with a temporary kitchen in the dining room. Eight weeks after demo, they had their first dinner at the new island.
What we did
- Wall removal and flush beam
- White oak cabinets and quartz counters
- New electrical and recessed lighting
- Plumbing moved for the island
- Wood-look flooring through the living area
"They gave us a fixed price and stuck to it. Daily cleanup, weekly updates, and it was done in eight weeks."
